Villanova PA: As everyone knows that when you get to Conference play, it is a marathon to get yourself in a good spot for conference tournament & NCAA Tournament and that is what we had on Sunday afternoon as Villanova Wildcats took on Seton Hall Pirates on Sunday afternoon from Jake Nevin Field House on the Campus of Villanova University in Women’s Basketball action. Villanova comes into the game with 19-5 (9-4 in Big East) & off a win over St John’s on February 9 while Seton Hall enters battle with Wildcats with 15-10 (7-7 in Big East) and off a loss to Georgetown also on February 9. A Reminder that in Women’s College Basketball, they play 4 10 minute quarters.

Seton Hall won the tip and they would score the games first 4 points of the game on the baskets from Kimi Evans & JaQuan Jackson, the Wildcats would score the games next 5 points all by Megan Quinn to take the 5-4 lead with 7:19 left. Wildcats would take an 11-8 lead at the end of 1st quarter.  In the 2nd quarter, the Wildcats would get the lead as high as 14 at 24-10 with 5:08 left, Seton Hall would slowly cut the  Wildcats lead and got it down to 6 at 24-18. Wildcats would take a 29-18 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the action would pick up as the Wildcats would get the lead up to 18 at 39-21 with 6:24 left, the defense by the Wildcats would just make things very hard for Seton Hall to get back into the game, and Villanova would lead 46-34 through 3 quarters. In the final quarter, Seton Hall would start to make plays and make it hard for the Wildcats but every time Seton Hall would go on a run, Villanova would have an answer. The Pirates would get the Wildcats lead down to 6 at 57-51 with 1:31 left and they would run out of gas as the Wildcats would hold on for a 59-53 win. With the win, the Wildcats now go to 20-5 (10-4 in Big East) and now head to battle vs Marquette on February 16 and with the loss the Pirates fall to 15-11 (7-8 in Big East) and look to get back to their winning ways as they take on St John’s also on February 16.
