Philadelphia: After losing for the first time this season, Villanova looked to get back to their winning ways as they took on Marquette at the Wells Fargo Center. Villanova came into the game with a 13-1 record and 1-1 in the Big East), and coming off a bad loss to Butler on December 30. Marquette entered battle with the Wildcats with an 11-4 record, 2-1 in the Big East, and coming off a win over Providence on January 3.
Villanova won the tip to start the game and would score the games first 6 points, all 3-pointers by Eric Paschall. Marquette would get on the board with Basket and Foul by Sacar Anim. Villanova would lead as much as 13 with 1:56 left in the half. Marquette would go on run and they would get the lead down to 5 with 8:20 left. Villanova would lead 46-34 at halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats would get the lead up to 16 at 66-50 with 12:45 left in the half. Marquette would go on a run and there would be multiple times where they would cut the Wildcats lead down to eight and the lowest that they got the lead was to 5 at 93-88 with 43 seconds left. Both teams would make foul shots and the Wildcats would rebound from the embarrassing loss to Butler as well as pick up a big win as they take down the Golden Eagles 100-90. With this win, a milestone was hit as Villanova Coach Jay Wright picked up career win number 400. The Wildcats are now 14-1 (2-1 in Big East) and now head to battle against Xavier on January 10 at Wells Fargo Center
