Philadelphia PA: As the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Detroit Pistons on Friday Night at the Wells Fargo Center, 76ers great Julius Erving, also known as DR. J, was in attendance and fell ill. Irving was quickly taken to a local hospital. The 76ers would go on to win the game 114-78.

A statement from the 76ers detailed Irving’s condition.
“Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving fell ill at tonight’s game and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated. He is expected to be released after the evaluation.”
Erving was in attendance as he rang the bell to start the game & the team honored him to mark the 35 years anniversary of his famous dunk which is called “cradle dunk” against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Erving was a part of the 76ers team that won the 1983 NBA championship when they swept the Lakers in 4 games.
