After Carson Wentz went down with an injury suffered last week in Los Angeles, Nick Foles stepped in and won the game for the Eagles. The Birds offense did not skip a beat once Foles was under center as he made multiple big throws that led to a Philadelphia Eagles win. Foles has had plenty of experience in this league, therefore there is no reason to doubt his ability to win some football games for the Eagles going forward. As of now, it is pretty safe to say that Foles is the real deal at quarterback after throwing four touchdowns against the Giants.

With the victory over the Rams in LA, the Eagles clinched the NFC East and a playoff game as they improved to 11-2 on the season. Once Nick Foles found out that he was going into the game on Sunday, he had to make sure to be on his A game in order to lead the Eagles to a win. As soon as he went into the game, Foles did not falter nor make a mistake as he drove the ball down the field for six points on two drives. Foles’ biggest throw came on a third and eight when he delivered a strike to Nelson Agholor to close the game out on a crucial first down.

That was all the Eagles needed at the time as the defense stepped up and fought for a much needed fourth down stop. Then the offense and Foles did its job again as they earned a couple first downs before punting with only a few seconds left on the clock.

Now it’s time for Nick Foles to do his job and win as a backup quarterback for these last few games as well as going into the playoffs. All Eagles fans will see what he can do with the upcoming games against the Raiders and Cowboys. Doug Pederson brought him in this offseason for a reason and now Foles will get the chance to prove why he was brought back to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Foles seems to be optimistic and up for the challenge as he has prepared well and all throughout the season along with Wentz in practice. He especially has chemistry with the Eagles organization as he played with the Birds from 2012-2014. His best season came in 2013 under Chip Kelly as he threw for 27 touchdowns and two interceptions which is not easy to accomplish. Foles also won the Pro Bowl MVP in that season as he posted outstanding numbers all throughout the year.

Going forward, plenty of Eagles fans should have confidence in Foles as he played under Pederson while serving as the backup QB in Kansas City. Nick Foles has chemistry with Coach Pederson and knows the way he runs his offense so Philly fans can feel assured with Foles leading the offense going forward. Foles can certainly be considered the best backup in the league especially when he plays in games that matter.

There are plenty of reasons to believe in Foles but when he was with Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, and Doug Pederson his record was 16-9, completion percentage was 62.0, touchdown to interception ratio was 49-17, and his passer rating was 94.8 which are all phenomenal stats. If he can continue this play for the rest of this season then there is no reason to doubt Foles’ leadership going forward.

While Carson Wentz is undeniably the better quarterback compared to Foles, I believe that Eagles fans should put their confidence in Nick and trust that he can lead us to a deep playoff run. Some fans may have forgotten about this, but Foles did in fact lead us to a Wild Card appearance in 2013 under Chip Kelly’s offense.

If the Philadelphia Eagles win two more games then they will clinch the number one seed in the NFC and a first round bye as well as attain home field advantage throughout the postseason. This gives fans a reason to put faith in Foles and trust that he can guide the Birds to multiple playoff victories. The only thing that Eagles fans can do now is hope and pray that Saint Nick can get the job done and lead us to a potential title this year. Let’s win for Wentz and Fly Eagles Fly!
