Philadelphia: Coming off playing three games in the Wooden Legacy tournament over Thanksgiving, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks took on the Bucknell Bison from Hagan Arena on the Campus of Saint Joseph’s University on Wednesday night. The Hawks entered the game coming off a win over Sacramento State on Sunday, while Bucknell entered the game with a win over Stony Brook.
Bucknell won the tip-off to start the game and would open up the scoring with a basket from Nana Foulland for a 2-0 lead. The Hawks would then go on an 8-0 run for an 8-2 lead, started by James Demery. Both teams would have bad shooting and play good defense. The Hawks would grow the lead in the first half to 15 points at 38-23 with 2:03 left in the first half. The Hawks would take a 40-27 lead into halftime.
In the second half, both teams would continue to play tough defense and also have some bad shooting performances. The Hawks would grow the lead to 21 with a score of 60-39 with 11:23 left and would continue to make things hard for Bucknell to get back into the game. The Bison would go on a run that saw the lead down to 12 at 73-61 with 3:15 left. The Hawks would hold on for an 83-70 win and now go to 4-3 on the season and with the loss, Bucknell goes to 3-5.
Saint Joseph’s gets ready for the “Holy War” as they take on #4 Villanova on Saturday, December 2 at 5:30 PM on ESPN2. Bucknell looks to get back to their winning ways as they take on Vermont also on December 2.
