Philadelphia PA: It’s only has been a couple days since the start of the 2017-18 College Basketball season, and already there is excitement for what your team can do this season. Below we take a look at what the City 6 (Temple, Penn, LaSalle, Drexel, Villanova and Saint Joseph’s) did last week and what is going on for the Week of November 13 to November 19.
Temple started their season with a exhibition win over Jefferson University at The Liacouras Center back on November 9; the start of the regular season for the Owls will be on November 16 when they take part in the Charleston Classic, in South Carolina, and take on Old Dominion (2PM on ESPN3)
The Wildcats opened their 2017-18 season with a 75-60 win over Columbia. Now the Wildcats take on Nicholls State on Tuesday November 14 (6:30 PM on FS1) from the Wells Fargo Center. Villanova will play most of its Home games at Wells Fargo Center as their home arena gets a $60 million renovation and will be called the Finneran Pavilion starting in 2018-19 season. After the game vs. Nicholls State, the Wildcats will head to Allentown for the away game vs Lehigh at the PPL Center at (8PM on FS1) on Friday November 17.
The Dragons got off to a bad start to the 2017-18 season, as they lost their season opener 78-69 to Bowling Green home on November 10 and now look for their first win of the season when they take on Arcadia at the Daskalakis Athletic Center, or The DAC, on Monday November 13 at 7PM. Following this game, Drexel will play in the Paradise Jam in Lynchburg, Va starting on Friday November 17 as they play Houston.
The Hawks started off the 2017-18 season with 2 road games, first with a 98-87 Loss to Toledo on November 12. In that game, Lamarr Kimble hurt his foot and received x-rays after game (Waiting for update). Now the Hawks will head to the Windy City to take on Universtiy of Illinois-Chicago on Monday, November 13 (8PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia +). After those 2 games, the Hawks will come home for their Home Opener when they play Princeton on Saturday November 18.
The Explorers got off to a good start in 2017-18 as they took down Saint Peter’s 61-40 on Saturday November 11 at Tom Gola Arena on the Campus of LaSalle Univeristy. Now they move on to Big 5 Play when they take on Penn, Monday November 13 (7PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia) from “the Cathedral of College Basketball” The Palestra on the Campus of University of Penn. After that, LaSalle then gets ready for South Alabama on Thursday November 16 and they head into the NAISMITH HALL OF FAME TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT on Saturday November 18 against Northwestern.
The Quakers started the 2017-18 season by losing to Fairfield 80-72 on Saturday and now look to rebound as they head to Big 5 Action at The Palestra on Monday, November 13 as they play LaSalle. Following this game, Penn will face Navy on Wednesday November 15 at 7PM also at The Palestra, and after that game, Penn takes on Penn State-Brandywine on Saturday November 18 at 11:30 AM at the Palestra.
