One of the big headlines going into the Eagles monday night game against the Redskins is Josh Norman being out with a rib injury. Norman suffered the injury in week four versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Since then, the Redksins have missed him as they have struggled in the secondary.
Although the Redskins are number 10 against the pass this season, those numbers may go down if Norman continues to miss games. While many people despise Norman and his cockiness, he is definitely one of the top corners in the league.
With Norman being out against the Eagles, this gives a huge opportunity for the Birds offense to exploit their secondary and put up a lot of points. In addition to this, Alshon Jeffery will have a big chance to prove his talent and worth as he looks to catch a few touchdowns against their division rival. As Jeffery has been matched up against all the number one cornerbacks this year, it gives him the opportunity to put up big numbers and many yards.
While Norman will be sidelined for the matchup this week, Bashaud Breeland is probable to play on Monday night. He will hope to hold down the fort this week as the Eagles and Carson Wentz look to throw early and often. With all of this in mind, the Eagles have to come out strong and bring it to the Redskins early on and throughout the whole game.
One of the Eagles strong points this year has been their passing game as they look to continue that success this week against Washington. With Norman out, they can certainly prove that they have one of the best quartback and wide receiving cores this year which is a massive upgrade from last season. All in all, Wentz has undoubtedly been Philly’s MVP throughout the first six weeks as he looks to have another big performance against the Redskins.
