This upcoming weekend, the Philly boys take on the Seattle Sounders home at Talen Energy Stadium.

This match is very important for the Sounders as they could potentially clinch their playoff berth, whereas the struggling Union could possibly get eliminated from playoff contention with a loss or tie.

The Sounders are coming off a strong 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Last game out, the Union continued their poor recent form in a loss to Atlanta FC, getting beat 3-0.  Out of their last five games, they’ve tied three of them.

One thing to watch this game is the matchup between the two goalkeepers, as Stefan Frei has been sensational this season for the Sounders, and Andre Blake is a stud that won Goalkeeper of the Year last year. Another thing to look for is that CJ Sapong is one goal away from a new club goal record.  Some speculate that if he continues his goal scoring form, he could possibly get a tryout with the USMNT.

At this point, with the season winding down, we could see Curtin try and incorporate some newer faces into the lineup to try out different combinations of players and try and get some of the lower players on the team some experience at the highest level.

The goal of this game should be to try and keep the Sounders off the score-sheet, which is always a challenge when they have the lethal Clint Dempsey.  We’ll have to be tight defensively and get good coverage from the midfield dropping back to account for Seattle’s offense where they commit large numbers forward.

Hopefully they can pull out a win this Sunday since the Union have been a hard team to beat when playing at home.
