The push for the playoffs continued for the Philadelphia Union as they went north of the border to take on Toronto FC Wednesday night from BMO Field.

This game marked the return of Union goalie Andre Blake who missed the last eight matches due to Gold Cup commitments with Jamaica, along with a right hand laceration.

The scoring would open up in the 10th minute as Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco took advantage of a free kick past Blake, hitting the right corner of the net.

Toronto would add to the lead in the 30th minute after Nicolas Hasler headed a Victor Vazquez corner kick just below the crossbar.

Toronto had a stranglehold on the game, dominating play at home throughout the game. It only got stronger when Jozy Altidore tapped a Vazquez pass past Blake. Altidore intercepted a failed clear by Fabinho and was able to execute a give-and-go with Vazquez, who fooled defender Jack Elliott by feeding Altidore in between his legs.

The Union had a golden scoring opportunity as llsinho took a shot in the 61st minute that had goalie Alex Bono beat, But Bono got a hand on it and the ball hit the crossbar.

The Union are still six-points back from the final playoff spot with eight games left in the regular season. They look to rebound from the loss on Saturday, as they host Atlanta United FC, who are one point out of a playoff spot.
