The Phillies front office has kicked its rebuilding efforts into high gear, trading perhaps their biggest asset to an AL contender.

Philadelphia reportedly traded starter Cole Hamels and receiver Jake Deikman to the Rangers Wednesday night. In exchange, they will receive Matt Harrison, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, Nick Williams, Jorge Alfaro and Jake Thompson. The Phils will also reportedly pay the Rangers $9.5 million.

These are some of the top prospects in the Rangers’ farm system. Additionally, Harrison is a major league veteran, though he has struggled in the Rangers rotation this year.

The deal has not been confirmed by either club. Reports suggest the Phillies are working on more moves, such as trading outfielder Ben Revere. More to follow from Philadelphia Sports Nation
