Though the NFL Draft often yields the league’s future stars, it must reward the Eagles with immediate help. The team will need to reload to have any chance of a Super Bowl run.

  • Tuesday, 8:01 PM: Reports circulated yesterday that the Eagles may trade up in the Draft for one of Brandin Cooks or Odell Beckham
  • ESPN threw out the possibility of the Eagles trading QB Nick Foles and the 22nd overall pick to the Cleveland Browns for the 4th pick in the NFL Draft. Peter King cited the same rumor
  • The Eagles, Panthers, and Ravens are interested in WR Cody Latimer.
  • 8:06 PM: Sal Paolantonio reports: “[Eagles] are burning up the phones trying to get a top wide receiver.”
  • Wednesday, 1:35 PM: Reports indicate the Eagles have a deep interest in CB Kyle Fuller, though they already have Cary Williams, Brad Fletcher, Brandon Boykin, and Nolan Carroll on the roster.
  • 6:10 PM: Both Ha’Ha Clinton-Dix and Odell Beckham have stated that the Eagles would be a “great fit.”
  • Thursday, 10:10 AM: Sal Paolantonio reports that Eagles are trying to move to get Mike Evans or Sammy Watkins.
  • Eagles select LB Marcus Smith, Louisville.
  • Eagles select WRs Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff.
  • Saturday, 10:51 AM: The Eagles hold the first pick in the fourth round, and will open proceedings today. Howie Roseman said earlier on WIP that “The ideal thing would be to move back, pick up picks, and still get the player we like.
  • Eagles select DB Jaylen Watkins.
  • 12:20 PM: Chip Kelly sounded like he was leaning towards playing Watkins at safety, though he said Watkins would “get a look at both” corner and safety in minicamp.
  • Eagles trade RB Bryce Brown and a 7th round pick to Bills for their 7th and either a 4th in 2015, 3rd in 2016, or 4th in 2016. Depends on whether or not new 49er WR Stevie Johnson makes Pro Bowl, as conditional pick was from SF.
  • Eagles select S Ed Reynolds from Stanford. This would make one think that Jaylen Watkins will face equal competition at both corner and safety.
