The NFL is a league for men. Players are forced to spend three to four years in college to mature, and they prepare for life in the NFL. Life in the league mirrors the various tones of William Shakespeare’s plays: history, comedy, and of course, tragedy. For Jeremy Maclin, Saturday afternoon was like reading the devastating Romeo and Juliet. Only quicker.
Nick Foles: “I just saw him laying there…our thoughts and prayers are with him.”
Jeremy Maclin tore the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in his right knee Saturday, and will likely miss the year. Maclin was hurt in a non-contact drill, and carted off the field soon after. A true soldier for the Eagles, Jeremy Maclin may have played his last snap for the Eagles.
Riley Cooper took snaps with the first team, and will likely start in Maclin’s place. Jeremy Maclin is in the final year of his rookie deal. With the Eagles ready to contend next year, they may try to acquire a stronger receiver in free agency. Whatever the case may be, thoughts and prayers go out to Maclin from Eagles Nation.
Michael Vick showed his true leadership skills, and revealed his respect for a true warrior: “Maclin will find a way.”
