One of nature’s most-famous humors is the cycle of life; how things come full circle. Linebacker Chris Goong attempts to rekindle the cycle
“I don’t dwell on the past too much. I’m just seeing where I’m going from here,” Gocong said to media at the NovaCare Complex.
After spending last season on the Browns’ Injured Reserve, Gocong is looking to revive his career. Gocong notched 5.5 sacks during his two seasons in Cleveland, in which he started all 32 games. Initially, the Eagles traded Gocong to the Browns in 2010 with Cornerback Sheldon Brown. The deal netted LB Alex Hall and two draft picks, one of which was CB Trevard Lindley
The Eagles recently invited him to partake in Chip Kelly’s rookie minicamp. Gocong is practicing on a tryout basis, finding familiarity in former coach Billy Davis’ defense:
“He’s so smart. He’s such a great coach. I knew it was going to happen. I’m looking to get a chance to come here and play for him. We’ll see how it works out.”
If things break well for Gocong, things may well “work out.” He would ideally back up LB Mychal Kendricks on the inside. Though he would face tough competition from Jamar Chaney, Casey Mathews, and Emmanuel Acho, Gocong has a chance. Having sat out a season marred in ominous apprehension, that is all he needs to push on and reignite his career.
It would be nice to do that here.”
