The NFL Offseason is slowly moving along. The countdown to the draft marches on with the release of the schedule.

The preseason schedule.

The NFL released the schedule for the 2013 preseason Tuesday. The Eagles opponents are as follows: vs. New England, vs. Carolina, @ Jacksonville, and @ NY Jets.

The first game is always most intriguing. No preseason opener will be followed with as much anticipation as this one. With the high-tempo, Tom Brady offense on display, this game will test the Eagles. The new-look defense will get a crack at one of the top passing attacks in the league with Brady, Danny Amendola, and the two TEs Gronkowski and Hernandez. In 2012, the Eagles defense allowing the most passing TDs.The Philly offense will mirror that of New England on the other sideline, and will be an interesting contrast to watch.

The game with Carolina will also test the defense, with Cam Newton and a revamped offense in store. The Carolina defense is younger, hungrier, and better. It will be led by a young group of linebackers featuring 2012 first round pick Luke Kuechly.

The third game will be most important, as the starters will play into the third quarter. Maurice Jones-Drew will pose an excellent test to the new rush defense. Isaac Sopoaga and the new defensive line must contain runners such as Jones-Drew in the regular season, and get a test run here.

The final game will be, as usual, against the New York Jets. This game will feature players that are scraping to make the team. Unfortunately, these players may not alter the course of games in 2013. however, every spot counts for a player with a family of four to feed.

This year, the preseason will show a lot about Chip Kelly’s style. It also represents a chance for fans to see the new additions, and allow them to hope, Hope that will endure throughout the 2013 season.
