Scott Hartnell’s return failed to alter the Flyers’ fate.
The Philadelphia Flyers fell 4-2 at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday, the second loss to Toronto this season. The two teams played a back and forth game, but the Leafs held off Philadelphia.
Phil Kessel opened the scoring in the first period, after an even start. Kessel gave the Leafs the lead on a slick shot into the Flyers’ net.
The second period was no different. Nikolai Kulemin scored again on Bryzgalov, handing the Leafs a comfortable 2-0 lead. Scott Hartnell made his presence known by scoring and halving the Leafs lead.
In the third, Mikhail Grabovski put the Leafs ahead for good. Voracek would score on a power play, but it was to no avail. The Maple Leafs would get an empty net goal, and the Leafs left the rink victorious.
The Flyers fell to 9-11-1. They host the Capitals Wednesday, 7:30 PM at the Wells Fargo Center.
