When main players fall to injury, everybody must step up. Everybody.
The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 Tuesday. The Flyers improved to 4-6, and are on a two-game win streak.
The first period started lively, yet scoreless. The game unfolded in a classic back-and-forth fashion. The story of the period was Zac Rinaldo’s brawl with B.J. Crombeen. The battle ended with Rinaldo slamming his elbow in a knockout blow, leaving Crombeen lying on the ice.
In the middle act, Forward Tom Sestito scored his first goal since 2010. Seatito caught a Voracek pass on the right circle, switched to his backhand, and scored past Andres Lindback.
The Lightning tied the game early in the third. Benoit Pouliot lofted a wrist shot past Ilya Bryzgalov for the goal.
Never fear, Sestito is here. The enforcer broke through the middle of the ice, free on goal. He used the same backhand finish to score the game-winner.
The Flyers are now 4-6, and will host the Panthers Thursday, 7:00 PM at the Wells Fargo Center.
