Drastic times call for drastic measures. Often, the service of old friends is required.
The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to terms with RW Mike Knuble on a one-year contract. This will be Knuble’s second stint in Philly. He previously spent four years with the team, scoring 114 goals during the ’05-’09 seasons.
The 40-year old veteran has played for five teams over the span of 15 years. Last season, Knuble managed a meager 18 points with the Washington Capitals. Knuble was signed today after the news broke that Scott Hartnell will miss four-to-eights with a broken left foot. In addition, Danny Briere has yet to return from a bruised wrist. Knuble will wear No. 9 for the Flyers.
The Flyers also promoted D Andreas Lilja from the Phantoms Friday. The move serves as a placeholder for Defensmen Zac Rinaldo and Andrej Meszároš, both out with injuries. Andrej Meszároš will miss four weeks.
Both Lilja and Knuble will be available for Saturday’s game in Florida. Puck drops at 7:30 PM.
