CSN Philly’s Reuben Frank (citing multiple sources) has reported that the Eagles have fired Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Tim McDermott.
McDermott, 40-years old, formerly served as the team’s Senior Director of Marketing from 2004-2006. He returned to the team as Senior VO and CMO after spending several years working in the same capacity for the NHL’s Washington Capitals. Under his direction (during his first tenure with the Eagles), Forbes recognized the Eagles’ organization as the fastest growing brand in all of sports.
If the name sounds familiar to you, it’s likely because his younger brother Sean served as the Eagles defensive coordinator for a single season (following the death of Jim Johnson).
The Eagles and McDermott both declared in separate statements today that they’ve parted on amicable terms.
This is the second front office firing in a week, as Eagles VP of Communications Rob Zeiger was let go last Wednesday.
No news yet on who will replace McDermott. We will have more on this as we get it.
