After reaching nearly 65,000 High Schoolers across Eastern Pennsylvania in
our poll, Philadelphia Sports Nation will announce the best fan section in the 2012 - 2013 basketball season.
After much voting in the poll it became clear that Lower Merion high school, where legend Kobe Bryant attended as a kid, Saint Joseph's Prep, coached by famous speedy Morris, and The Haverford School, nicknamed the Gentlemen Club by students, were the top three contenders in this years best fan section. Nonetheless, the best high school fan section in Eastern Pennsylvania goes to ....
The Lower Merion Aces!
Saint Joseph's Prep had by the far the best fan section performance in the Catholic League Championships as they nearly covered two full entire fan sections. Some say that their were more high school kids their then Penn, Drexel, or Temple normally has. Regardless of this phenomenal appearance at the Palestra, the best fan section throughout the year goes to Lower Merion High School. Fans with painted faces and props, On February 11th Lower Merion, who went 25-3 (16-0 in season) this year, defeated Ridley High School 57 – 50 to win the Central League Championships, as well as their forty second straight Central League game. 6'7" Small Forward BJ Johnson, who will be attending Syracuse University next season, led the Aces with 14 points Monday. Other key Lower Merion scoring contributors were Yohanny Dalembert (10), Raheem Hall (10), and JaQuan Johnson (9). After another great season, full of school spirit, I think it is safe to say that the Lower Merion Aces deserve to win this years best fan section.
